About the St. Clair
The heritage listed St. Clair Hotel was built in 1911 by Captain Henry Pybus of the Canadian Pacific steamship "Empress of Japan".
The dragon masthead of this fine vessel can be seen on the Stanley Park Seawall.
Captain Pybus took the "Blue Ribbon" while setting the Trans-Pacific crossing record in 1897.
The hotel orginally accommodatd railway and ocean going passengers back to both Pacific and Atlantic locations.
