About the St. Clair Hotel - Hostel

Built in 1911 by Captain Henry Pybus and the architect S. Birds, the St Clair Hotel was the first concrete building in Vancouver. In those days, the hostel served Trans-continental railway and ocean-going passengers traveling to and from Vancouver BC.
Now a Vancouver Heritage listed building (see the plaque near the front door), the hostel (with its nautical theme decor) still provides inexpensive, quality rooms at an economy price for travelers on a budget. The hostel is located in downtown Vancouver proper, just steps away from public transit trolley buses and Skytrain rapid transit stations. This central location gives our guests easy walking access to Vancouver's renowned nightlife, fine dining, theatre, sports and music events. Stanley Park and all those famous Vancouver beaches and landmarks – they're just around the corner too!
Back in 1897 the doughty Captain Pybus and crew took the Blue Ribbon after setting the Trans-Pacific crossing record aboard the Canadian Pacific steamship "Empress of Japan". (the dragon masthead of this fine vessel can be seen on the Stanley Park seawall)
Today, travel to Vancouver is even faster. But it is just as important to know that you will have a clean, comfortable, bed and room waiting for your arrival.
At Vancouver's St. Clair Hotel Hostel you will find all that and more ...
